It’s the Little Things in (RPG) Life

D&D, Dungeons & Dragons, hand-painted Add comments

Good ol’ eBay is filled with RPG artisans looking to shop their wares to gamers in need. This type of Pile gathering comes with turbulent stakes. These opportunities come and go with regularity and an eBay artisan’s precious inventory always runneth low. Ben birddogs certain keyword searches on a weekly basis to ensure he catches as many of these gems as possible. This week we review a valuable haul from Flights of Fancy Miniatures by JAHecker. Their product offerings are in a class by itself.

Ben often finds frustration in crafting small/tiny accessory pieces from YouTube tutorials. Sadly, he just doesn’t have the steady hand or keen eyesight to replicate the author’s original ideas. So imagine his excitement when he stumbled upon JAHecker’s fabulous RPG emporium.

Let’s take a closer look at Ben’s treasure-trove-laden acquisition.

Wizards Desk, Chair and Shelf
Your initial reaction can only be, “Oh…My…God!” when you see this Wizard’s desk. It’s just a jaw dropper of detail. There are potion bottles, maps, scrolls, and spell components strewn about the sturdy wooden desk’s surface. It also comes with a suitable chair and sorcery shelf to complete the room’s décor. And for $19.95, this accessory’s value can’t be beat.

Sorcerer’s Bookcase
A matching bookcase for your desk set is top notch. It’s stuffed with an assortment of spell and lore books of all different shapes and sizes. A pile of rolled up scrolls serve as a makeshift bookend for the rest of the shelf. You’ll applaud the piece’s sturdiness as well. Ben is especially stoked by these first two pieces as they will fit perfectly in the Thunderspire Labyrinth’s finale Encounter: T3 The Shrine of Vecna.

Bottles, Books and Bowls
JAHecker’s eBay store has an insane variety of 28mm miniature bottles (96 in all) for you to choose from…just $5.95 for any lot of 12.

You can also get a table topper lot which includes:

All that miniature accessory goodness comes at a pittance price of only $9.95! Once again, Ben empathically vouches for their exceptional quality.

A word of thanks to the vendor for throwing in some fun extras: a wood chest and fire caldrons. These are Hirst Arts pieces but all is well as JAHecker is an official licensed retailer.

Finally, you will be extremely pleased with the overall packaging of your items and prompt customer service. His shipping costs are very reasonable which is odd to see in the current price gauging atmosphere our industry has settled in to these days.

Editor’s note: As a full-fledged hobbyist, Ben completely respects the DIY aspect of these pieces. Time is a dastardly commodity in his life right now, so he jumped at the chance to buy these pre-made pieces so that he could instead use that terrain building time towards his next game prep. Here are some helpful links if you want to take a stab at making some of these pieces yourself.

Flights of Fancy Miniatures by JAHecker gets a solid five-star rating from BensRPGPile.com. Every hobbyist should take a gander at his works. It is with great certainty that Ben expects his precious wares to vanish once the word gets out.

Questions to Ponder: Which piece was your favorite? Have you ever made a miniature book or potion bottle? What other accessory would you like Flights of Fancy Miniatures to make for your game?

Geat pic. Hope I haven’t missed it but would love to see a close up of the wizard holding the spell book.

I felt like I was at the Swap Mart prepping for my next adventure that stuff was so cool.

Dare I say… another home run from the Pile!

Haha – thanks, man. That was a fun one.

You have an excellent eye, my friend. That mini holding the book was a custom paint job by a pro painter from Gen Con. I actually have some great shots of it in the Shrine of Vecna post on April 14. I also did a YouTube vid on that build on our channel. Enjoy.

Never fear, he just got a lot of press so his current stock got snapped up quickly (very expected). I actually spoke to John and he is in the process of re-stocking his eBay store. You just need to check back every so often over the next couple weeks. Hang tough…the best stuff always takes some patience to get.
